Batastini Shares Knowledge and Love of Basketball Through New School


Having over 20 years of experience in both playing and coaching basketball, Ms. Christina Batastini decided to open the Batastini School 0f Basketball to help in the development 0f youth through professional basketball players. Batastini realized how much she enjoyed working one on one with students when she gave individual lessons to youth basketball players in the St. Pius neighborhood in Providence.


Batastini noted that in team practices players aren’t getting individual attention; instead getting team instruction” The year round school of basketball gives a chance for players to work on individual and group specialized practices that center directly on the individual player’s strengths and weaknesses and focus on shooting, one—on-one skills arid court movement.
Batastini held three camps recently: the “Get Your Game Ready” Camp; the “Unstoppable Offense” Camp; and the “Lights Out” Shooting Camp, where each player’s shot was professionally videotaped and analyzed.

Ms. Ann Martino, mother of Johanna Dombrowski, a sixth grade Bay View basketball player and a student of Batastini, stated that Batastini” has had a great impact on [Dombrowski’s] confidence, improved her technique and made her an all around better basketball player.”

Batastini graduated from Classical High School, where she was named the New England player of the year and was a member of the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. She then attended Stanford University, where she continued playing basketball and received a Full Division I scholarship. Batastini played professional lrn Italy Sweden, Norway and coached and played in Switzerland. From 2004 to 2010 she was an assistant coach for Brown University and helped lead the team to the best start in Brown University women’s basketball history. Recently, Batastini was inducted into the Sons of Italy Sports Hall of Fame.
